Feature: Eid Mubarak

Happy Eid ul-Fitr for my moslem friends.

I don’t know how you celebrate Eid ul-Fitr, but with me it’s always been visiting families. Since I’m not really a family person, I don’t really see my aunts and uncles and cousins so often during the year. So you can figure that when we do see eachother, there’ll be plenty of questions asked to you; sooo plenty it’s almost offensive.

How old are you now?

Do you have a boyfriend yet?

When will you get married?

How many days did you skip fasting this year?

Where’s the ang-pao for your nieces and nephews?

This year, I’ll be putting all my plugs on so I will hear no evil question, see no evil smirks, and speak to no evil people.

Whatever, man.

I just wanna eat the opor.

Feature: Leonardo DiCaprio

O my God I forgot to post this!

So when Leo won an oscar, I made a fan art because I’ve been a fan of his since Romeo & Juliet. I used to collect his pin-ups from teen magazines and exchange some doubles with my fellow Leo fans at school LOL!

To be honest, I think Leo deserves Oscars since What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I don’t know why The Academy has been such a fool for not awarding him with any Oscars since his first nomination.

Leo’s speech, though! Right?!?!?! You go eat that, The Academy!

Anyway, lemme leave you with how Leonardo DiCaprio appears in my mind even until this day:

Leonardo DiCaprio will forever 21 in my mind. (No, not the clothing shop.)

Feature: Mural of Melodies

I haven’t listened to my iPod for a while now and I missed doing it.

But listening to music isn’t like watching movies or reading books. It’d just feel awkward to listen to music and not do anything else. Like, it’d be so awkward to listen to your iPod and just stare at your bedroom ceiling.

So I decided to make a mural while I’m listening to my iPod on shuffle.

Not JUST a doodle, but I’d write the song down everytime I’d start a new line of drawing. So you’ll know what song was playing when I drew that line.

Hahaha not a big deal, but I thought it’d be fun.

So here’s what it turned out like. (I wish I had a scanner, though, so I could scan the whole picture in good quality).

Can you guess how many songs it took for me to finish this drawing? Leave a comment! If you can mention the whole songlists, it’ll be better!

Have fun!

Feature: Lydia Paek

Lydia Paek is originally a dancer for Quest Crew; they’re MTV’s ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ Season 3 and have performed at American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.

But Lydia is also a great singer.

This morning, Lydia tweets this:

Here’s a picture of her that I used for a reference. Not mine. Credits go to the owner. I found it on Google.

And here’s the illustration I did:

I have tweeted this illustration to her. Now can we cross our fingers together to make her choose my illustration to be on her video? Thanks for your support! Hehehehe…

UPDATE (28/02/2013):

Lydia has finally released the new cover video and my illustration apparently didn’t make it to be in it. BUT! To be honest, I seriously am not disappointed at all, because the illustration she chose was really wicked! Congrats to miya_daria on instagram for the “winning” illustration! You did great!!! Love it! ^_^

Feature: Big Bucket of Dreams

I’ll be having overtime at work this Saturday and I’m afraid I won’t be able to draw for the next episode of Weekends Illustrated. Whilst I’ve been wanting to draw this particular illustration for the past days. So I’m just gonna put this new drawing now and file it under “feature” section.

The idea was inspired by my little sister‘s (re-)tweets lately about dreams.

I honestly don’t know what you’re going through, sister, but I assume you’re fighting for your dreams lately? And it sounds like you have this really big dream that it hurts so much.

Well I probably can’t give you any hand right now, but as a big dreamer myself, I want to encourage you.

I’ve been a dreamer whole my life. (D’oh, my tumblr is even titled “a dreamer’s cliche“). And I’ve done various fights for various dreams of mine in the past. (I’m even fighting for my new dream currently! :D). So you can say I’m pretty much experienced in failing and getting hurt and broken-hearted and you-tell-me.

But come on, if you have a very big bucket full of dreams, then of course it will be heavy and hard to get.

It will be tiring.

It will be painful.

It will be beyond challenging just to hang on.

It will break a vein or two.

But never give up!

Because everything will worth your fights.

You know, they say “if your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”

So it’s good to get wounded a little when fighting for your dreams. It means they’re big enough!

Youngbae Spirit, sister! This post is dedicated to you 🙂
